According to CNBC, Wisconsin Democrat Francesca Hong lost the state’s gubernatorial primary by less than 1 percentage point after public polling had shown her ahead by about 20 points, while Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan defeated Rep. Angie Craig by nearly 20 points in a Senate primary that polls had called tight. In Michigan last week, Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed won by 1 point after polls had put him up by double digits over Rep. Haley Stevens. The results also exposed a sharp miss for prediction markets: Kalshi had Hong at a 95% chance of winning on Monday night, and Polymarket had called her a near-lock with 96% odds before deleting a Tuesday post that said as much. Polymarket said the post was removed after being flagged internally for its wording. CNBC reported that Flanagan was given about a 70% chance to win in Minnesota, while El-Sayed had been priced at more than 90% to win in Michigan before polls closed.
