New Zealand Prime Minister Luxon said the governing National Party backed him to remain party leader in a confidence vote. According to Sina Finance, Luxon announced the result on Wednesday after attending a National Party lawmakers' meeting in Wellington.

This was the second time in four months that Luxon had won the support of the parliamentary caucus. Four months earlier, he had initiated and won a confidence vote himself, but it did not quiet continued questions about whether he was suited to serve as prime minister.
