ETH Is Trying to Recover - But the Bulls Aren’t Out of the Woods Yet

Ethereum just showed a small sign of life.

After yesterday’s sharp sell-off pushed ETH down to around $1,868, buyers stepped back in and lifted the price toward $1,889 today.

On the 1H chart, ETH is now trying to stabilize after that aggressive drop. The short-term moving averages are beginning to turn upward again, but the broader trend is still under pressure after price fell below the longer-term MA.

What makes this interesting is what’s happening underneath the price.

Ethereum staking has now reached a record 40 million ETH, meaning a growing amount of ETH is being committed to staking rather than sitting immediately available for trading.

Recent data has also pointed to ETH supply continuing to move away from exchanges while stablecoin liquidity rotates into the Ethereum ecosystem.

So right now, ETH has two very different stories:

📉 Price: Short-term momentum is still damaged after the sell-off.

🔒 Supply: More ETH is being staked and less supply is sitting readily available on exchanges.

💰 Liquidity: Stablecoin activity around Ethereum remains an important part of the bigger demand picture.

That’s why I’m not looking at this dip as simply “ETH is bearish.”

The real question is whether buyers can turn this rebound into a proper recovery, or whether the bounce becomes another opportunity for sellers to step back in.

For now, ETH is fighting to rebuild momentum.

The next few sessions could tell us whether $1,868 was a local bottom or just the beginning of another leg lower.

What are you watching: recovery or another sell-off?
