Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said talks with Oman on passage through the Strait of Hormuz were “going well and were constructive.” According to Sina Finance, he added that related fees must be charged in return for maritime services provided to ships.

He said the agreement will establish mechanisms to monitor safe navigation, protect the environment, and combat maritime crime. He also said the waterway cannot be secured while hostilities continue, and that its reopening depends on the United States stopping what Iran calls its illegal actions, lifting the blockade, and compensating for losses.
