Texas Governor Greg Abbott has ordered a pause on data center approvals and said facilities seeking to connect to the state grid must disclose five areas, including public funding, power use, water consumption, community impact and ownership. According to BeInCrypto, Abbott directed the PUCT and ERCOT to audit data centers in the interconnection process, and projects that fail state requirements will be denied grid access. ERCOT is weighing more than 474 gigawatts of connection requests, with data centers accounting for roughly 90% of them.
