Claude said on August 7 that its coding tool Claude Code will default to Auto mode on Pro, Max and Team plans from August 14, enabling longer autonomous task runs and using automated safety checks to reduce risky actions, according to Jiemian News. The company said users previously had to manually confirm tool calls, while Auto mode uses a classifier to assess each call in real time and block actions that could be irreversible, destructive or unauthorized.
Claude said internal tests, third-party security tests and real-world usage data show that Auto mode is safer than traditional human review. The company added that enterprise teams at Adobe, Nuro and Gusto are already using Auto mode in production. Auto mode will remain optional for Claude Enterprise, Claude API and other enterprise services for now, and Claude said it plans to roll it out as the default setting over the next few months.
