Gold vs Bitcoin: Which Could Outperform in August 2026?

Gold is currently outperforming Bitcoin as investors seek safety amid Middle East tensions, rising oil prices and persistent inflation concerns.

Gold has gained nearly 25% over the past year, while Bitcoin remains significantly below its late-2025 peak and stuck around the $60,000–$65,000 range.

Gold-backed ETFs also attracted about $3 billion in July, while Bitcoin ETFs saw more than $750 million in inflows this week, showing renewed institutional interest in both assets.

Prediction markets now give Bitcoin just 23% odds of outperforming gold in 2026, reflecting growing confidence in the precious metal.

Bottom line: Gold currently has the momentum, but weaker U.S. economic data, increased Bitcoin ETF inflows, or changing Fed expectations could give $BTC a chance to catch up in August.
