I was comparing @BabylonLabs_io 's custody model to wrapped-BTC alternatives and noticed a pattern.
Traditional bridges ask you to trust a multisig committee or a custodian's reputation. Babylon asks you to verify a script path. Your BTC stays in a Taproot output governed by predefined Bitcoin spending conditions, while the protocol applies additional cryptographic and consensus rules where required.
That sounds like removing trust. But the gap matters because the protocol isn't eliminating assumptions. It's converting subjective discretion into objectively verifiable rules.
A custodian decides whether to release your funds. Predefined protocol rules determine when the required conditions have been satisfied. The former relies on human judgment; the latter on mathematical certainty.
