Gold is holding strong above $4,000.
Spot gold has pushed back up near $4,150 an ounce, continuing a run that has kept it firmly above the $4,000 mark for weeks now. That kind of stability at a round number level tends to say more about market conviction than a quick spike ever could.
Part of what's driving this is geopolitics rather than pure market mechanics. Diplomatic efforts around easing tensions tied to the Strait of Hormuz have been shifting sentiment day to day, since any disruption there ripples straight into oil prices and inflation expectations. At the same time, traders have trimmed their odds of a Federal Reserve rate cut this fall, which normally works against gold, yet the metal has barely blinked. That resilience is notable on its own.
Adding to the picture, gold backed funds in China have kept pulling in fresh inflows, a sign that institutional demand hasn't cooled even as prices sit near record territory.
None of this guarantees gold keeps climbing from here. Rate decisions and any real resolution on Hormuz could quickly flip sentiment the other way. Still, the fact that gold is absorbing mixed signals without losing ground says something about where investor confidence currently sits.
Does gold still have room to run from these levels, or is this the top of the current cycle? NFA, DYOR.
