I’ve been looking at BABY’s volume and… maybe I trusted the headline number too quickly. It looked active, liquid enough, until I tried thinking through one order that actually matters, not a tiny swap placed to complete a task or farm an incentive. The moment trade size increases, the system starts showing a different face. Price impact widens, routes split across pools, timing matters more, and suddenly the easiest exit is still off-chain, meaning through a centralized exchange rather than directly on the network.

“Volume shows participation. Slippage shows capacity.”

That difference keeps bothering me. A thousand small swaps can make activity look healthy while quietly avoiding the exact pressure larger holders create. Incentives may reward movement, but they also filter what kind of movement appears. Small trades get recognized. Patient liquidity providers get less attention. A serious buyer or seller becomes the stress test nobody includes in the adoption chart.

Maybe slippage is not just a trading cost here. It is Babylon’s most honest map of where trustless demand can actually settle without being broken into pieces, delayed for better conditions, or redirected back to a centralized venue. I’m still not sure whether BABY is building depth, or mostly building visible motion around shallow water.
