Buying a whole Tesla share always felt out of reach. So I never even looked.
Then I saw the five dollar entry on bStocks. I didn't believe it at first felt like a rounding trick, not real ownership.
I checked anyway. It was real.
That's when I realized I was asking the wrong question. I stopped asking "can I afford a share" and started asking "how much do I actually want in this." Those are two different questions and I hadn't noticed I was only ever asking the first one.
I still don't know what it means long term when most people start trading in pieces instead of wholes. But I check prices differently now. Less about the ticker. More about what I feel comfortable putting in.
Does owning 10% of something feel different from owning one whole share? Or is ownership just ownership?
