Aave governance controls key credit parameters, including collateral treatment, borrowing limits, rates, liquidation settings, and exposure caps. Across the 25 maximum positions, those changes can move borrowing capacity by millions of satoshis equivalent. But there is a clear limit. Aave cannot create a new Bitcoin payout address or redirect a BTC input that was never included in the original settlement path.

That boundary is what I find most interesting.

Babylon separates credit authority from settlement authority. Aave manages credit conditions, while @BabylonLabs_io preserves the link between DeFi activity and Bitcoin settlement through predefined rules. The vault structure follows Bitcoin's native 8 decimal precision (100,000,000 satoshis per BTC), keeping settlement tied to Bitcoin's rules rather than future governance decisions.

Many people describe this as shared governance. I see it differently. The important part is not that two ecosystems share control, but that control is divided before it can become custody. Both sides can influence risk, but neither can independently rewrite ownership.

That is why BABY stands out to me. Governance flexibility is useful, but it can also create hidden intervention paths under stress. Here, governance can reprice exposure, reduce risk, or adjust incentives, but it cannot bypass Bitcoin settlement.

The part I am watching now is coordination. A fragmented authority model creates stronger boundaries, but it also requires different systems to move together when markets become unstable.
