Bitdeer Signs AI Data Center Lease Worth Up to $4.7 Billion
Bitcoin miner Bitdeer has signed a 16-year lease agreement worth up to $4.7 billion to provide 121 megawatts of AI and high-performance computing capacity at its Tydal data center in Norway.
The facility will support Nvidia GPU-based workloads for a subsidiary of Volta Infra. Bloomberg reported that Volta’s broader cloud agreement may involve AI company Anthropic, though Bitdeer did not identify the ultimate customer.
The deal remains subject to closing conditions. JPMorgan affiliates and another global financial institution are expected to provide about $1.3 billion in letters of credit to secure the tenant’s payment obligations.
Bitdeer shares rose about 8% following the announcement as investors welcomed the company’s expansion beyond Bitcoin mining into AI infrastructure.
The company has also sold its entire Bitcoin treasury, previously totaling about 943 BTC, to help fund data center development, land acquisitions and other expansion projects.
