🚨🇮🇷🇴🇲 Iran and Oman Reportedly Move Closer to Temporary Strait of Hormuz Deal
Iran and Oman have reportedly made progress in negotiations over a temporary arrangement for the Strait of Hormuz.
Under the reported proposal:
➡️ Ships would enter the strait through waters controlled by Iran, a significant strategic gain for Tehran.
➡️ Part of the return route would also pass under Iranian control.
➡️ Iran rejected an earlier Omani proposal to divide control equally, arguing it did not adequately address Tehran's security concerns.
➡️ Iranian officials reportedly warned that the strait would remain closed if Muscat rejects the temporary plan.
As part of the arrangement, naval mines in the central section of the waterway would be cleared to allow the strait to fully reopen. Once navigation resumes, both sides would begin negotiations on a longer-term agreement.
According to the reports, if Iran and Oman reach a final deal, it is expected to receive U.S. approval. Tehran has also made it clear that any agreement it signs must be accepted by Washington.
