A few years ago I had a university professor who kept repeating the same sentence:
"A good engineer doesn't ask what a system can do. They ask what each part of the system should do."
At the time it sounded like ordinary classroom advice.
While studying Babylon, that sentence came back to me.
People often mention that David Tse is a Stanford professor but I don't think the real advantage is the academic title. It's the mindset behind it.
When I looked at $BABY 's design I noticed something unusual. Instead of asking one token to become money, security, governance and utility all at once, Babylon separates those responsibilities. Bitcoin contributes economic security while baby coordinates governance, validator incentives, fees and protocol evolution.
That feels more like a researcher's approach than a marketer's approach.
The interesting part is how this changes incentives. Bitcoin holders don't have to change Bitcoin's role while $BABY gains relevance as more Bitcoin participates in securing the network.
Of course the trade off is that coordination only becomes valuable if the ecosystem keeps expanding.
I'm still wondering whether the market fully appreciates that distinction or if most people are still valuing $BABY as just another staking token.
