Others try to shrink those assumptions and lean on cryptographic verification instead.
I didn't come away thinking one model wins every time. Real systems are rarely that simple. Different trade-offs make sense in different situations.
But now, whenever I read about a new protocol, I spend less time looking at the feature list and more time tracing the path of trust. Every extra assumption feels like another question I need to answer before I can feel comfortable.
Maybe that's how my perspective has changed the most. I no longer ask, "Which protocol promises the most security?" I ask, "Which one gives me the fewest reasons to simply believe?"
