China's STAR Market companies disclosed 29 share buyback progress announcements and two shareholding increase progress announcements on the evening of August 3, 2026. So far in 2026 through August 3, the market has seen 76 newly disclosed buyback plans with a combined cap of 10.558 billion yuan and 28 new shareholding increase plans with a combined cap of 1.002 billion yuan, according to Jiemian News. Wind data showed Huatai-PineBridge Sci-Tech 50 ETF (588090) recorded 1.984 billion yuan of net inflows in July, a new high since inception, lifting its fund units to 2.946 billion and assets to 4.708 billion yuan. The article said the fund's morning rebound on August 4 came as the Sci-Tech series indices, led by the STAR 50 Index, recovered after the buyback and accumulation announcements.
Jiemian News also said more than 50 global technology companies, including Nvidia, Microsoft, Google, Meta, AMD and IBM, signed an open letter on July 24 backing open-weight AI models. The letter said open-weight models can lower the barrier to AI use, promote fair competition, avoid technological monopolies and give users more technical autonomy. Guojin Securities said the industrial value of open-weight models lies not only in better model capability, but also in lowering the barrier for companies to obtain, develop and deploy high-quality models, helping enterprise AI move from model access toward model development, deployment and operations.
The article added that Embodied AI industrialization is accelerating and said Unitree Technology's STAR Market IPO is moving ahead on a tight schedule, with a planned public offering of 40.4464 million shares. It said the listing could fill a gap in the STAR Market's humanoid robot segment.
