Jonathan Goodman says he discovered that all 18.25 BTC had been drained after checking his wallet following reports of the Coldcard vulnerability on July 29.
The hardware wallet had never been connected to the internet and was stored inside a safety deposit box.
His response was chilling:
«"I did everything right. None of it mattered."»
Coldcard has since confirmed a flaw that caused some wallets to generate seed phrases that were easier for attackers to guess.
The estimated total stolen from the vulnerability may now exceed $109.6 million.
