U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent said Friday's coordinated foreign exchange action addressed disorderly movements in the yen. According to Jin10, he said the Treasury is closely monitoring the situation and remains in close communication with colleagues at Japan's Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Japan. Bessent added that the government would not hesitate to take part in further joint intervention, called the FIMA repo facility an important backstop, encouraged expanding its size in the coming months, and strongly supported Japan's decisive market and monetary measures to correct the yen's substantial undervaluation.
