Three days of BTC chopping sideways left me restless, so I skipped the charts and tried the BABY testnet instead. Binance Square has been pushing @BabylonLabs_io hard this week, so I ran Native Bitcoin Backed Borrowing on Aave v4's public testnet myself.
The pitch sounds seamless: lock BTC, borrow instantly, no bridge, no wrapping. Reality moves slower. BTC first sits in a Trustless Bitcoin Vault, unusable as collateral on the Core Lending Spoke until the lock is verified on Bitcoin's own chain. A separate spoke handles liquidations.
I refreshed my wallet near 1am, sure something had broken. Nothing had, I was just watching Bitcoin's own confirmation clock run. 21,379 wallets cleared this flow via this week's CreatorPad campaign, so the wait is by design, not a glitch.
Trustless doesn't mean instant, it relocates the wait from a bridge to the chain itself. Whether that matters once mainnet brings real caps and liquidations, or only shows up when nothing's at stake, stays open.
