The more I read about blockchain infrastructure, the more I feel we're solving the wrong problems.

Every new cycle brings faster chains, lower fees, and more features. Those improvements matter, but I'm not convinced they're the biggest challenge anymore.

I think trust is.

When I started reading about Babylon, one idea kept coming back to me.

What if Bitcoin doesn't need another use case?

What if its biggest contribution is helping other networks become harder to break while BTC stays on the Bitcoin network?

That feels like a very different conversation from the one crypto has been having for years.

I'm not saying this approach will definitely work. It still has to prove itself. The incentives need to hold up, validators need to keep acting honestly, and the system needs to perform when markets become unpredictable. No whitepaper can answer those questions.

What I like is that the discussion starts with security instead of hype.

Most people only notice infrastructure when it fails. If everything keeps working, nobody talks about it. Maybe that's exactly why security doesn't get the attention it deserves.

Whether Babylon succeeds or not, I think it raises a question the industry should spend more time discussing.

Are we spending too much energy building new features and not enough strengthening the foundations they all depend on?
