Why Babylon didn't launch everything at once
Was reading about Babylon's mainnet rollout last night and honestly expected the usual playbook — announce everything, launch everything, patch the bugs later, hope it holds.
That's not really what happened though. They split it into phases. First one's called "Genesis," pitched as the first Layer-1 secured directly by Bitcoin — before any of the multi-staking stuff or bigger features get added on top.
My first reaction, not gonna lie, was that phased launches are usually just marketing pacing. Spread the announcements out, stay in people's feed longer. But the more I sat with this one, it started looking less like pacing and more like actual risk management — get the base layer proven first, then stack the complicated parts on something that's already held up.
Which, for something holding billions in BTC, is probably the smarter way to do it anyway. Still kind of curious how long the gap to the next phase actually ends up being.
