#baby I have been looking at this Babylon thing for a minute. Not sure what’s going on with the wider market, but the tech side is actually moving. David Tse, the co-founder, is speaking at SBC ’26 today about this BABE protocol.

The numbers are just stupid. They ran an experiment with the old tech and it cost like $15,000 to put a ZK verifier on-chain. Now with BABE? We are talking $10 to $20. That’s not an upgrade, that’s a completely different game.

Basically, they found a way to compress all the complicated pairing math in Groth16 verification down to just one scalar multiplication on an elliptic curve. Storage costs dropped by three orders of magnitude too BitVM3 needed like 42 gigabytes per circuit before. Now it’s actually practical.

The protocol is supposed to go live this February with the Babylon Trustless Bitcoin Vault alpha testnet. Something is building maybe. Feels quiet on the price side but the research keeps rolling. Honestly, making ZK proofs actually work on Bitcoin without burning money is a big deal for scaling. @BabylonLabs_io
