Since adopting a Bitcoin standard, Strategy ($MSTR ) says its stock has generated 42% annualized returns, outperforming Bitcoin itself, the Magnificent 7, and the S&P 500.
What stands out to me isn't just the return. It's how Strategy has transformed from a traditional software company into a leveraged Bitcoin investment vehicle. Investors buying MSTR today aren't simply buying software—they're buying exposure to Bitcoin wrapped inside a public company.
That strategy has clearly rewarded shareholders during Bitcoin's strong performance. But I also think it's important to remember that this works both ways. If Bitcoin outperforms, MSTR can outperform even more. If Bitcoin enters a prolonged downturn, the downside can also be amplified.
So I don't see MSTR as a replacement for Bitcoin. I see it as a higher-risk, higher-reward way to express the same bullish thesis.
The past few years have proven that the strategy can deliver exceptional returns. The real question now is whether it can continue doing so if Bitcoin enters a more challenging phase of the market cycle.
