Node infrastructure for the network underneath Trustless Bitcoin Vaults (TBV) was reviewed this week — specifically Pruned versus Archive node types.
A Pruned node keeps recent chain data only, sufficient for current operations. An Archive node retains full historical state from genesis onward.
What stood out: the choice isn't really about correctness. A Pruned node isn't less correct than an Archive node for standard operations. It's about what queries can actually be made later — historical analysis, auditing past states, tracing something that happened months ago. That requires Archive specifically, and a Pruned node simply cannot answer those questions after the fact.
