I went back into the @BabylonLabs_io Trustless Bitcoin Vaults (TBV) testnet today. Not to borrow this time. To try breaking something.
I wanted to see what happens when things don't go perfectly. So I tested a few edge cases.
First, I tried borrowing more than my collateral should allow. The protocol rejected it. Not a warning. Not a "please reduce your amount." Straight rejection. The kind of hard enforcement you want when real Bitcoin is on the line.
Then I checked what happens if you disconnect mid-flow. Reconnected. The position was exactly where I left it. No lost state. No half-executed transaction hanging in limbo. TBV picked up right where I left off.
What surprised me most wasn't any of that. It was speed. The whole flow post collateral, confirm, borrow felt like regular DeFi. Not "Bitcoin DeFi, please wait while we bridge your assets." Just normal. Fast. The kind of experience that makes you forget you're dealing with native Bitcoin on a different chain.
I'll be honest, I was looking for friction. Something that would remind me this is testnet and not everything works yet. I found less than I expected.
That doesn't mean TBV is perfect. It's testnet. Mainnet brings real value, real stress, real edge cases nobody thought of. But the foundation? It's smoother than I thought it would be.
What would you test if you were poking around a testnet the happy path, or the edge cases?
