Babylon is the project I keep coming back to when I look at Bitcoin staking. Seeing roughly 56,800 BTC locked, worth more than $5.5 billion, is impressive, but the number that caught my attention was the 15,000 BTC Lombard pulled during its finality provider transition.
I don’t read that as a simple bearish signal. If anything, it shows how much Babylon’s TVL can shift because of one large participant making an operational change. That makes me less interested in the size of the deposits and more curious about how stable they really are.
Can stake move between providers without disrupting confidence? Will Lombard bring that Bitcoin back once the transition is complete? And over time, can Babylon spread its stake across enough participants that one exit stops moving the headline number so sharply? The project has already proved it can attract serious Bitcoin capital.
What remains unclear is whether that capital is becoming part of durable infrastructure or is still flexible liquidity waiting for the next better route.
