A few days ago, a simple question came to my mind: if Bitcoin is considered the most trusted crypto asset in the world, why does using it in DeFi usually require wrapping it or relying on a third party? That curiosity led me to @BabylonLabs_io where I learned about Trustless Bitcoin Vaults (TBV). I found the concept genuinely interesting because it aims to expand Bitcoin's utility while keeping it in its native form.
As I explored further, I discovered that TBV allows native #Bitcoin to be used as collateral without wrapping, bridging, or depending on a centralized intermediary. In other words, you keep full control of your private keys while your Bitcoin can participate in new financial opportunities. Its first implementation with Aave v4 makes this idea feel much closer to becoming a practical reality.
To me, this is more than just another product. it's an interesting step toward giving Bitcoin broader real-world utility. I'm looking forward to trying the public testnet and experiencing it firsthand.
This is only my personal opinion, and you may see it differently. Nothing in this post should be considered financial advice. If you're planning to invest in any project, always do your own research first.
