One thing that changed my perspective after reading Babylon's Trustless Vaults whitepaper is this:

For years, we've assumed Bitcoin needed smart contracts or wrapped versions of BTC to participate in DeFi. Babylon is taking a completely different approach.

What if Bitcoin doesn't need to become Ethereum at all?

Instead of moving BTC to another chain, Trustless Vaults keep native BTC on Bitcoin while using cryptographic proofs to interact with DeFi applications like lending, stablecoins, and perpetual DEXs.

The most interesting part for me isn't the yield opportunities—it's the philosophy behind it. Bitcoin remains Bitcoin. No custodians, no wrapped assets, and no compromise on self-custody.

If Trustless Vaults succeed, the future of BTCFi may not be about rebuilding Bitcoin. It may simply be about unlocking what Bitcoin was always capable of becoming.

Do you think Bitcoin should adapt to DeFi, or should DeFi adapt to Bitcoin?
