Trump Unveils New Forced Labour Tariffs on 60 Nations, Israel and China are Hit With 12.5% Duty, While India Faces 10% Duty

The United States has announced a fresh round of tariffs by using Article 301, targeting nearly 60 trading partners, with the Trump administration citing concerns over forced labour in global supply chains. Under the new policy, countries including India, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Canada will face an additional 10% tariff, while China and Israel have been placed in a higher 12.5% tariff category.

Traditionally, Section 301 investigations focused on issues such as intellectual property theft, forced technology transfer and unfair market access restrictions. This is the first time it is being used on such a broad scale to address allegations of forced labour in international supply chains.
