BIG NAMES PUT $15M ON BITCOIN SECURITY 🚨🏦🛡️
On 23 July 2026, big finance and Bitcoin firms launched the Bitcoin Security Consortium.
Saylor and Strategy helped lead it. The cash is not one company alone. Members pledged about $15M total over 3 years (about $5M per year if spent evenly). 💰📅
At the table: BlackRock, Coinbase, Fidelity Digital Assets, ARK Invest, Block, Blockstream, Galaxy Digital, Anchorage Digital, and Strategy. 🟢🔵🟡
First focus: quantum computing (new computers that could one day break the math that protects Bitcoin keys). Strategy says full attack-size machines are not here yet and still look years away. The plan is to fund people already doing long-term security work, and explain that work more clearly to big investors and the public. ⚙️👀
Scale check: $15M is still small next to Bitcoin's full network size, and small next to one Strategy preferred-dividend coin sale earlier in July (about $216M). Names on the list may matter more than the cash size right now. ⚖️
Also this week: Galaxy Digital already put up to $5M on its own Bitcoin quantum-readiness grants. Institutional cash for the same fear is stacking in more than one pot. 🛰️
Still open: no full public roadmap of which BIPs (Bitcoin upgrade proposals), wallets, or code paths get funded first. No proof the grants will move shared Bitcoin rules faster. ⚠️
The technical upgrade path is still the old one. What is new is who is paying for the work. 🔎📜
