Galaxy Digital Commits $5M to Quantum Proof Bitcoin
Galaxy Digital has pledged up to $5 million in grants to support open-source developers building post quantum cryptography for Bitcoin as part of its new Bitcoin Quantum Readiness Initiative.
The initiative also establishes a Quantum Advisory Council featuring experts from the University of Calgary, MIT, and Boston University. Funding will support quantum resistant Bitcoin upgrades, new signature schemes, wallet migration tools, and security audits.
The move comes as Glassnode estimates that 30% of Bitcoin's supply could be vulnerable if powerful quantum computers become a reality. While some experts believe the threat is decades away, others argue Bitcoin has only a few years to prepare for a post quantum future.
