From the moment I opened my first account, I had a strategy and a roadmap in mind. While I stuck to my plan for the first three years, I later deviated from it due to those around me who had experienced previous cycles and the self-proclaimed YouTube influencers who thought they knew everything. In the crypto market, which already carries high risks and volatility, I greedily increased the risk I took. After all, altcoin season was coming! And I was going to see 1:100 and even 1:1000 profit margins.
During the period when I stuck to my plan and technical analysis, some of the coins I bought and their costs were as follows:
BTC: $22,000
ETH: $1,250
BNB: $250
SOL: $15
By December 2024, I had significant profits in my account, almost 10x. Yet, I had only invested in Bitcoin and major altcoins with high market caps. In 2025, especially in the first quarter, this is where things went wrong. I broke with my own principles and started investing in risky altcoins that others were hyping up. I'll give the worst example: DYM, which I bought at $4, is now hovering around 7 cents. Even if it's not in such a bad state, unfortunately, I have 4-5 more altcoins in my portfolio in a similar situation. I can't sell them because they're not worth it, and I can't add more because the bomb I'm holding could explode even more violently.
In short, the crypto market already has high volatility and risks. You should never invest a large sum of money and/or anything you can't afford to lose. You should be content with 5x-10x profits from major altcoins and stay away from high-risk altcoins that promise 100x-1000x profits. Taking a risk on an altcoin like DYM, whose existence and future are uncertain, instead of a proven altcoin like ETH, is foolishness. I made this mistake, don't you make it. I will never do it again. And always DYOR and stick to your plan, nobody can manage your money better than you.
I'm not sure if I'll be among you in the next cycle. But if I am, I won't invest a single penny in any coin other than BTC, ETH, BNB, SOL, and XRP. Period!
