These days, getting good AI tools is becoming very hard. All the big and powerful AI models are only with some big companies. If you want to use their best things, you have to pay a lot of money every month. Sometimes they also keep changing their rules. For a student like me, this feels very unfair because normal people cannot easily use these things.
Few days ago, I was reading an online discussion where many developers were talking. They were saying that running AI models needs very costly servers and computers. Many of them made good AI projects but they could not show it to people because they had no money for servers. I felt bad reading this. In that same discussion, I saw the name OpenGradient and I wanted to know more about it.
What I liked about OpenGradient is that it works differently from other companies. It does not use only big data centers. Instead, it connects the free and unused computing power from people all around the world. Developers can also add their AI models to this shared network. I think this is a good idea because small developers will also get a chance and they don't have to compete alone against big companies.
There is also a token called $OPG in this system. People who give their computing power or help the network can earn this token as a reward. If everything works properly, then AI services can become cheaper and more people can use them easily.
I don't know if @OpenGradient will become very big or beat the large companies. But I think the idea is really good and different. It is trying to make AI for everyone, not just for rich companies. I will keep watching what happens with it in future.
