So you’ve read about Illuvium: Beyond, the customizable NFT collection coming soon on IMX. Now, it’s time for you to buy your first Illuvitar D1sk on March 7th, 2023.

For that, you’ll need to set up an IMX wallet. Don’t worry, it’s not as scary as it seems.

In celebration of Illuvium: Beyond, coming soon to IMX, we’ll walk you through:

  • The different types of crypto wallets

  • How to create an IMX Wallet using only an email address

  • How ImmutableX benefits gamers like you

But first, a definition.

What’s a Crypto Wallet?

Crypto wallets are software or hardware that store digital assets and initiate and sign transactions across blockchain networks. Let’s take a look at each.

Digital Wallets: Digital wallets (aka software wallets or hot wallets) are connected directly to the blockchain. This makes them easily accessible and quick to use. Hardware wallets: Also known as cold wallets, these are physical devices that live offline. Since they are only connected to the blockchain at the user's discretion, these are much safer to use. Anyone who holds a significant amount of digital assets should invest in a hardware wallet.

Designed to be carried interoperably across decentralized applications, the same wallet you use to connect to Illuvium will safely carry your Illuvials, Illuvitars, and other assets to your other favorite blockchain games and marketplaces. On ImmutableX, this is achieved through our IMX Wallet Connect feature.

What’s IMX Wallet Connect?

IMX Wallet Connect lets users seamlessly create and connect Ethereum wallets to IlluviDex or any marketplace integrated with the IMX platform.

IMX Wallet Connect is currently compatible with:

  • MetaMask

  • GameStop wallet

  • A hardware wallet via MetaMask

  • Magic Wallet

Those who connect with their existing MetaMask or GameStop Wallet will be prompted with a signature request to create an ImmutableXkey. This allows ImmutableX to act as an extension of your Ethereum wallet.

Don’t have an existing wallet? No problem.

Thanks to our integration with ‘Magic’, you can also create new wallets using only an email address. No messy UX or confusing blockchain jargon is required.
