A 63.1kg spotted hyena has a bite force of 565.7 Newtons at the canine tip and 985.5 Newtons at the carnassial eocone. A 162.2kg lion has a bite force of 1314.7 Newtons at the canine tip and 2023.7 Newtons at the carnassial eocone.
The lion also has a stronger bite relative to its size. It has a bite force quotient(BFQ) at the canine tip of 123.8 and 128.1 at the carnassial eocone v.s. the hyena’s BFQ of 99.6 at the canine tip and 115.3 at the carnassial eocone.
A 38.9kg brown hyena has a bite force of 560.1 Newtons at the canine tip and 1029.6 Newtons at the carnassial eocone, and a BFQ of 135.9 at the canine tip and 164.9 at the carnassial eocone. A 36.3kg stripped hyena has a bite force of 507.8 Newtons at the canine tip and 889.2 Newtons at the carnassial eocone, and a BFQ of 128.9 at the canine tip and 148.9 at the carnassial eocone. As you can see, these hyenas have a very high BFQ, much higher than a lion.

Interestingly, the hyena species have similar bite forces despite varying in size, showing that their bite force is more for processing carcasses(specifically to crack bone) rather than subduction of prey(since spotted hyenas hunt more than the other hyena species).
Spotted hyenas primarily use tugs from their neck muscles to do damage to their prey, rather than their pure bite force. Lions on the other hand need to suffocate huge animals up to 1200kg with their bite force, necessitating a higher bite force both absolutely and relative to their size.
Though lions possess the bite force to crack bone, they are unable to do so as their teeth and jaws aren’t designed to withstand those types of forces, and would break.
Any estimates in PSI are objectively incorrect. PSI is a measure of pressure, not force. Measuring bite FORCE in a unit of pressure is illogical. The results are extremely overblown because the pressure is extrapolated from the force at the tips of the teeth(a very small area) over an area of an inch.
A Newton is an actual unit of force. 1 Newton is the force required to accelerate a 1kg object at 1 meter/second^2(every second the 1kg object would be moving a meter per second faster than before).
