Its integration is expected to enhance the performance, reliability, and security of stablecoin-based payments, aligning with Circle’s mission to build trustworthy, low-cost, and borderless financial infrastructure.
Ethan Buchman, CEO of Informal Systems, which incubated Malachite, emphasized the acquisition as a validation of Malachite’s vision, noting its role as a “financial foundation for future development.”
The move comes as Circle reports strong growth metrics.
USDC circulation surged 90% year-over-year as of June 30.
The company projects 40% annual growth moving forward.
Revenue rose 53% YoY to $658 million, largely from interest income on USDC reserves.
Circle posted a $482 million net loss, driven mainly by non-cash IPO-related expenses.
CFO Jeremy Fox-Geen highlighted rising institutional interest following Circle’s IPO and the GENIUS Act, a proposed U.S. framework for stablecoins.
