MetaMask adds Tron as its third major non-Ethereum blockchain integration

The Tron blockchain is set to be natively integrated into MetaMask, Consensys’ flagship self-custody wallet, making it the third major non-Ethereum network to gain support since MetaMask’s launch in 2016.
Tron DAO confirmed the strategic partnership on Aug. 20, noting that TRX holders will soon be able to access tokens and decentralized apps directly within MetaMask.
“MetaMask’s strong user base and reputation make it a vital gateway for decentralized applications,” said Sam Elfarra, spokesperson for Tron DAO.
Angel Gonzalez-Capizzi, head of business development at MetaMask, explained that Tron’s presence in Asia and its alignment with MetaMask’s security and product readiness drove the integration decision.
MetaMask recently added Solana support in May and also supports BNB Smart Chain, Sei, and various Ethereum Layer-2 networks.
Tron has gained momentum following the U.S. presidential election amid expectations of a more favorable regulatory landscape. Eric Trump, son of President Donald Trump, publicly praised Tron and its founder Justin Sun, calling him a “great friend and icon in the crypto space.”
TRX surged 166% after the election, hitting an all-time high of $0.43 in December 2024 before cooling to its current price of $0.347. The token remains up 37% year-to-date, according to CoinGecko.

트론(TRON) 네트워크가 Consensys가 개발한 대표적 자산 지갑 메타마스크(MetaMask) 에 네이티브 통합된다. 이번 파트너십은 트론을 아시아 중심 네트워크로 연결하며, 메타마스크가 이더리움 외 지원하는 세 번째 주요 블록체인이 됐다.
트론 DAO는 20일 전략적 파트너십을 발표하며 메타마스크 지갑 내에서 TRX와 dApp 접근이 가능해질 것이라고 밝혔다. 트론 DAO 대변인 샘 엘파라는 “메타마스크는 광범위한 사용자 기반과 신뢰성을 갖춘 필수 게이트웨이”라고 말했다.
메타마스크 사업개발 책임자 안헬 곤잘레스-카피치는 “트론은 아시아 지역에서 강력한 입지를 보유하고 있으며, 이번 통합은 보안·기술·사용자 경험 검토를 충족했기 때문에 진행됐다”고 설명했다.
앞서 메타마스크는 5월 솔라나 네트워크 지원을 시작했으며, BNB 체인과 Sei를 비롯한 이더리움 L2 네트워크와도 호환된다.
트론은 최근 미국 대선 이후 규제 완화 기대감 속에서 주목을 받고 있다. 장남 에릭 트럼프가 “트론의 가장 큰 팬”이라고 언급하는 등 정치권과의 연결고리도 주목된다. 트론의 창립자 저스틴 선은 트럼프의 밈코인(TRUMP)을 대량 매수하고 대통령 VIP 만찬에 참석한 바 있다.
트론 토큰 TRX는 미 대선 이후 166% 급등하며 2024년 12월 사상 최고가 0.43달러를 기록했으나 현재는 0.347달러에 거래되고 있다. 올해 들어서만 37% 상승세를 이어가고 있다.
