EIP-4844 Just Killed The L2 Business Model
Everyone is celebrating the near-zero fees on Layer 2s, but few understand the profound architectural shift that made it possible. Before the Dencun upgrade, scaling solutions were hampered by L1 storage costs. L2s had to use expensive, permanent Ethereum Calldata to anchor their transactions for security. This was like renting a mansion just to store a single folder.
EIP-4844 changed the game by introducing "Blobs." Blobs are dedicated, temporary storage compartments. They are cheaper precisely because they expire, removing the need for L2 data to occupy costly, permanent L1 storage space.

A quick deep-dive into the math of #Blobs :) Also, there is a misconception that there is a limit of blobs per tx (in the OG version 2 #blobs were suggested, but this was removed). Some example txs with 3/4 blobs:
